CAPE TOWN - Feuding taxi associations Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association (CATA) and the Cape Organisation for the Democratic Taxi Association (CODETA), could not resolve their differences during a meeting on Friday.
Taxi operators from both organisations have been killed in recent shootings which broke out in the city this past week.
The violence ensued a week ago after members of CODETA were ambushed by unknown gunmen in Mfuleni, killing four and injuring two.
Three CATA taxi drivers were also shot dead in separate attacks in Lwandle near Strand and Langa.
The taxi task team met yesterday and committed to continued discussions.
CATA spokesperson Nkululeko Sityebi says the feuding taxi associations met today to discuss their differences and will meet again next Tuesday.
“There is no resolution that was taken today [Friday], but I think the follow-up meeting on Tuesday will come up with a resolution.”
