JOHANNESBURG - The lawyer of a sangoma accused of human trafficking and the premeditated murder of a two-year-old says his client is now backtracking on his admission of guilt in the case.
Sebokoane Khoayana’s attorney, Gladmore Nyamand, says earlier this week his client told the court he was guilty.
However, the court did not register his plea, stating it was not yet time.
On Thursday, he appeared at the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court expressing an intention to apply for bail.

He appeared alongside his co-accused, the mother of the murdered child, Keneilwe Shalaba.
The sangoma was linked to the case and arrested last week. He thereafter led police to the toddler’s remains, which were buried in Bekkersdal.
His attorney says he is worried his client’s account on the matter may be unreliable.
"He is flip-flopping, we don’t know, maybe when we come back again, he will tell us that let’s just abandon bail, we don’t know what to expect from him."
