JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Water will dispatch water tankers to various suburbs on Tuesday as Rand Water's maintenance project continues.

This comes as work gets underway at the Palmiet system from Tuesday morning.

For 10 hours, pumping will be reduced to 67%, which will result in low pressure to no water for residents.

Affected areas will include parts of Sandton, Alexandra, Midrand, and large parts of Johannesburg South.

Rand Water has embarked on a major maintenance project, which is being rolled out in phases across Gauteng.

"Johannesburg Water will make alternative water arrangements for all the affected areas through stationary and roaming water tankers," said Joburg Water spokesperson Nombuso Shabalala.
