JOHANNESBURG - In KwaZulu-Natal, traffic officials have taken a no-nonsense stance on rule breakers on the road after a drunk truck driver was found to be more than 20 times over the legal limit at the weekend.
The driver was caught and arrested during a blitz by law enforcement.
In a separate incident, authorities arrested another truck driver in Van Reenen along the N3 freeway.
He was also above the legal alcohol limit.
The spokesperson for the KZN Department of Transport, Ndabezinhle Sibiya, said that lawlessness would not be tolerated.
"In particular, we are paying more attention to trucks because, more than any vehicle, trucks can damage more vehicles at once, and their accidents can lead to serious injuries because of the impact."
