JOHANNESBURG - A 27-year-old woman whose leg was amputated following an injury at Total Ninja obstacle adventure park says she has not had any trauma counselling after the ordeal.
Khethiwe Mngomezulu slipped and injured her leg while at the Northgate branch in Johannesburg in April.
She said she was hospitalised only four hours later, in Soweto, and was told by doctors that her infection had spread, leading to the amputation of her right leg above the knee.
Mngomezulu said the staff at Total Ninja told her they would call an ambulance, but she was left unattended.
Total Ninja has disputed the claim that the customer was left unattended for hours, saying 'she was immediately assisted by the on-site medic and three marshals, who promptly moved her to the first aid room via stretcher, and secured her accordingly.'
The company also said that emergency services were contacted.
She was later taken to hospital by her sister.
On Saturday, the Economic Freedom Fighters Youth Command from Soweto marched to the branch wanting management to take accountability for allegedly not assisting Mngomezulu, and for a lack of medical personnel on site.
The red berets temporarily closed the store, and requested to meet with management.

Mngomezulu said since her accident, Total Ninja had not been responsive to her call for help, adding to her trauma.
“It was painful, it was unbearable, I couldn’t even think straight during that time, they told me that the veins in my leg were no longer working and there’s nothing they could do.”
Total Ninja told Eyewitness News that it is still investigating the matter and cannot comment on the meeting with Mngomezulu and the EFF at this stage.
