CAPE TOWN - Steenberg police are investigating the murder of a 19-year-old boy, who was shot in the chest.

Police said the deceased’s body was found on the roof of a house in Beethoven Street, Retreat, on Saturday evening.

The murder is one of several that took place over the weekend, highlighting the issue of gun violence on the Cape Flats.

Police spokesperson Wesley Twigg said that no arrests had been made yet.

"According to reports, police members were called to the crime scene where they found the victim with a gunshot wound to his chest. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation."
