JOHANNESBURG - Water supply has been restored to most parts of Mogale City on the West Rand after days of widespread disruptions.
The restoration of supply follows a two day oversight visit by Mogale City mayor Lucky Sele, aimed at identifying the root causes of delayed recovery, and boosting coordination with key stakeholders like Rand Water.
The mayor's team inspected several key sites, including the Kenmare Pump Station, as well as the Dan Pienaar and Munsieville reservoirs.
Multiple stations were found to be operating below capacity due to inconsistent bulk water flow, which led to critically low reservoir levels in high-demand areas such as Kenmare and Lewisham.
Mayoral spokesperson Palesa Molefe says urgent interventions are underway.
"Engineers have been instructed to fasttrack pressure balancing and de-airing operations. We have escalated the matter to our provincial counterparts. The stabilisation of the system is now a top priority and all available resources are being mobilised to restore consistent water supply to our communities."
