JOHANNESBURG - The Nelson Mandela Foundation has been accused of remaining silent on South Africa’s tensions with the United States (US).
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema claimed that the foundation was not using its influence to defend the country against US President Donald Trump’s administration.
Speaking to supporters during the EFF’s “victory march” in Pretoria on Monday, Malema addressed the strained diplomatic relationship between the Union Buildings and the White House.

He argued the Nelson Mandela Foundation is in a stronger position to influence the Trump administration.
“Mandela has a good name. Why are they not using Mandela’s name and getting a delegation to go to America and try to make sense of everything? Why can’t they oppose the lies of AfriForum?”
Malema also took a swipe at the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation.
“Today, they say whites are killed in South Africa, but the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation doesn’t say anything. Where is Bishop Makgoba, who speaks on everything, but when a lie is being told, a bishop doesn’t say anything.”
