CAPE TOWN - A cold snap is expected to hit parts of the country this week, after the South African Weather Service (SAWS) confirmed two cold fronts making landfall.
This means the Western Cape is in for heavy rains and gale-force coastal winds, while the Northern Cape is set to experience strong interior winds along with heavy rains.
Forecasters say there will also be a significant drop in mercury, accompanied by snowfall in some mountainous areas.
SAWS forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela: "The South African Weather Service will continue to monitor any further developments relating to the weather systems and we’ll issue subsequent updates as required.”
