Some of the defects identified in the cars are faulty airbags, batteries with a high chance of overheating and malfunctioning brake systems.
Commission spokesperson Phetho Ntaba said the defects were identified with the assistance of the various car suppliers.
"In some instances, the concerns as raised by the manufacturing supplier may increase the risk of an accident, as in the case of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, for example. In other instances, the leak of brake fluid loss in the case of a Mercedes-Benz AG, so we really want to reiterate our message to say Do heed the call, your safety comes first."
