JOHANNESBURG - Trade union federation COSATU said that it recognised the work that still needed to be done to ensure fair labour practices in all sectors.
The comments come as unions across the country host rallies to commemorate Workers' Day.

COSATU leaders will be joined by African National Congress (ANC) president, Cyril Ramaphosa, at an event in Mpumalanga.
The annual event celebrates strides made to reform the labour sector.
Every year on the first of May, labour unions take stock of the work done in a movement to ensure workers' rights.
COSATU spokesperson Zanele Sabela said: "We have the minimum wage, we have UIF, employment equity, equal pay for equal work. We have all those laws in place."
But Sabela said there were still some shortcomings that needed urgent attention.
"The stopping point is workers who are not willing to comply with regulations, and that also comes back to us as labour unions and federations that we need to take a resolution on."
COSATU, ANC, and SACP supporters have started arriving for the programme, which is slightly delayed at the Kees Taljaard Stadium in Middelburg.
