JOHANNESBURG - A manhunt is underway for a suspect who shot and killed two people and injured another in the Umbumbulu area, south of Durban.
On Monday, two members of one family were shot on the R603 after their car broke down and were approached by a gunman who opened fire.
The police found the mother and the son, who had run to a nearby house with multiple gunshot wounds.
The boy was declared dead on the scene while the woman was rushed to hospital, where she is receiving treatment.
The man, believed to be the father, was found by the riverbank with multiple gunshot wounds.
"Paramedics arrived on scene to find three actual scenes as a result of one shooting incident, which allegedly occurred on the R603 where a family of three - a mother, father and son- were travelling when it's alleged the vehicle broke down. They stopped to seek assistance and they were approached by a gunman who then opened fire," said ALS Paramedics spokesperson, Garrith Jamieson.
