SAPS probing kidnapping case after 3 of their colleagues went missing in JHB

JOHANNESBURG - Police are investigating a case of hijacking and kidnapping after three of their members went missing while driving along the N1 highway in Johannesburg.

 

They were last seen at an Engen garage near the Grasmere Toll Plaza, travelling in a white Polo on Wednesday.

 

The missing constables, two females and one male, are aged between 20 and 30, were off duty when the incident happened, while they were driving to Bloemfontein to their area of deployment.

 

National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says their vehicle tracking device and cell phones are off. 

Mathe has urged the public to provide any information that may help the investigation

 

“We have established a VOC (Venue Operational Centre) and a full-scale search is underway with a high-level team of detectives and crime intelligence operators from Gauteng and the Free State working tirelessly to find these three constables.”
