CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Police Commissioner Thembisile Patekile says police are not ruling out the possibility of a link between the Wynberg Court hit and the recent shooting incidents in Vrygrond.
Two more suspects linked to the fatal shooting of a murder accused taxi driver in the court's corridors two weeks ago appeared at the same court on Friday.
Shireen Matthews, Abubaker Admas, Brian Booysen, and Wanay Farao are accused of being behind what police believe was a revenge attack for the murder of a gang member.
There’s been an uptick in shooting incidents in the Vrygrond area in recent weeks.
And it's alleged the violence playing may be related to a dispute between taxi operators and members of the Junky Funky Kids gang.
Patekile said there may be a link between these shootings and the murder of a taxi operator inside the Wynberg Magistrates Court.
"What we have discovered is that there's a conflict between the gangs, and some gang members own taxis. There are also people owning taxis who are not gang members. So that conflict now is in that space."
Two other suspects have already appeared in court, and they will all be back on in the dock on 9 May.
