JOHANNESBURG - Bail has been granted to four G4S prison officials from the controversial Mangaung Correctional Centre who are charged with the murder of an inmate.
The accused appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Friday morning.
They are accused of assaulting inmate Mpho Mkhumbeni and his three cellmates during a raid in their cell in March.
The following day, Mkhumbeni died.
A post-mortem found that complications caused by secondary exposure to tear gas and blunt force trauma led to his death.
