CAPE TOWN - The prosecution in the case involving two people accused of being behind a shooting at Wynberg Magistrates Court said it would oppose bail for the pair.
Shireen Mathews and Abubaker Adams briefly appeared at the same court on Wednesday.
Mathews is accused of putting out a hit on taxi operator Dingalomoya Chintso's life earlier in April.
The State alleges that Adams and another person carried out the hit as retaliation for Chintso's alleged involvement in the murder of their gang member.
A bail hearing is set down for 29 May and 6 June, however, Adams must get a lawyer first.
Magistrate Sibongiseni Mtwana, addressing Adams' situation, said: "Legal Aid that is before court cannot represent you based on the reasons given to you when you appeared yesterday. However, the Legal Aid board has appointed Judicare, but no one has accepted yet. So, your matter is postponed to May 9, 2025, for the Judicare to come on record. You both remain in custody until then."
