MTPA confirms second lion that escaped from KNP captured & euthanised

JOHANNESBURG - A second lion that was on the loose in Mpumalanga has been recaptured in the Huntington area.
The two lions were part of a pride of four that escaped from the Kruger National Park last Sunday.
The first lion was caught in Bushbuckridge on Friday and euthanised after it fed on livestock from the local Malumule community.

The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency spokesperson, Simphiwe Shungube, said the trail of destruction helped track down the second lion.
"The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) confirms that at around 05:00 this morning, the second vagrant lion that was on the loose was euthanised following a weeklong joint operation with stakeholders, such as SANParks, using drones and a helicopter."
