JOHANNESBURG - Bus company Putco said its drivers underwent refresher road safety training ahead of the Easter Zion Christian Church (ZCC) pilgrimage to Moria in Limpopo.
The move was aimed at ensuring the safety of both drivers and passengers during the long weekend travels.
This year marks the return of the ZCC’s annual pilgrimage after a five-year break due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Putco made 500 buses available to shuttle congregants, and spokesperson Lindokuhle Xulu said the company took extra steps to prioritise safety: "They have been workshopping our drivers who will be taking this Moria route. They have refreshed them in terms of safety, defensive driving and basic stuff like fatigue management and to be vigilant on the road and observe the rules of the road."
