CAPE TOWN - Police have arrested four suspects for the illegal possession of drugs, a firearm, and ammunition.
It's understood that the arrests took place after the Gugulethu Crime Prevention Unit conducted inspections at a spaza shop.
One man was found in the possession of a pistol with ammunition.
When police searched the house of the suspect, they discovered drugs and ammunition, and they subsequently arrested two women who were also on the premises.
Ravensmead police simultaneously arrested another man for the possession of drugs.
Police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi said the suspects are expected to appear in the Athlone and Goodwood magistrates courts soon.
"Ravensmead police responded to information of suspicious activities at a home in their policing precinct. The members operationalised the information and approached the house in Anemone Street, upon which a search ensued.
"Their persistence paid off when they recovered a consignment of dagga and cash, believed to be the proceeds of selling dagga. They detained a 25-year-old man for dealing in drugs."
