Amawheelaboys grouped with USA and Britain at 2025 IWBF Men’s U23 World Championship

The 2025 IWBF Men’s U23 World Championship will be played in São Paulo, Brazil, from 12–20 June, with 12 of the world’s top U23 teams battling it out for the coveted world title.

JOHANNESBURG –  South Africa will be competing in Group B against Japan, USA, Great Britain, the Philippines, and Italy at the 2025 U23 World Championship.

The International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) paired the countries based on zonal representation and ranking to ensure fair and balanced competition.

The 2025 IWBF Men’s U23 World Championship will be played in São Paulo, Brazil, from 12–20 June, with 12 of the world’s top U23 teams battling it out for the coveted world title.

The defending African champions booked their Brazilian ticket when they dominated Libya with a 51-38 victory at the 2025 IWBF U23 Africa Men’s Championship earlier this year.


The event, held every four years, made its debut in 1997 in Toronto, Canada.

The Sasol Amawheelaboys carry the hopes of Africa and represent the continent at the World Champs, which are set to take centre stage in June.
