CAPE TOWN - The George municipality has said that it's confident that its newly appointed manager will steer it in the right direction.
Godfrey Louw has been appointed as the town's new municipal manager.
Louw has been acting since Dr Michele Gratz's resignation in October last year, amid investigations into the George building collapse that killed 34 workers.
Louw will hold the fort until after the next local government elections next year.
George municipality spokesperson Ntobeko Mangqwengqwe said: "The Executive Mayor Alderman Jackie von Brandis welcomed the appointment of Mr Godfrey Louw as municipal manager for George. Louw has already demonstrated outstanding leadership, steering the municipality with a steady hand since taking over in his acting capacity."
