MEC Meyer welcomes latest positive tourism stats for WC
This follows the release of the South African Tourism's annual performance report for 2024, which shows a recovery of the tourism industry in the province.

CAPE TOWN - The MEC for agriculture, economic development, and tourism in the Western Cape, Ivan Meyer, has welcomed the latest positive tourism statistics for the province.
This follows the release of the South African Tourism's annual performance report for 2024, which shows a recovery of the tourism industry in the province.
This includes an overall increase of 6.8% in international tourist arrivals to the province during the period under review.
Meyer added that the province had also attracted many first-time visitors to South Africa, with nearly 49% of international tourists visiting for the first time.
"Domestic tourism is also doing well in the Western Cape, spending about R18.6 billion last year. Tourism create jobs in the Western Cape, and we believe that the B20 and G20 will create even more jobs in the Western Cape in 2025."
