JOHANNESBURG – MMA is about two warriors testing their strengths and skills. It goes beyond punches and kicks; it’s about resilience and having the courage under pressure.

And Faeez “Troublemaker” Jacobs is hungry for more action.

“I stand by what I've previously said, the EFC bantamweight division needs to show me something I can be interested in, but I am keeping my eye on the UFC bantamweight division.”

The 30-year-old from the Cape Flats says he hopes to be very active this year and continue fighting until he gets a UFC call so he can go fight in the big leagues.

In his recent fight at EFC 122, Jacobs reminded everyone why he’s the king of the bantamweight division when he took down Sibusiso "The Little Assassin" Sovendle with ease.

Jacobs took down Sovendle by knockout at 3:30 of the first round.

He tells Eyewitness News the fight went exactly as he had intended.

“I'm happy with my performance, it was my intention to make it look as flashy as it did. I am trying to gain the attention of the UFC, so expect more performances like that.”

The mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and EFC (Extreme Fighting Championship) bantamweight champion has a professional MMA record of 12-5-0 (Win-Loss-Draw).

Troublemaker tells Eyewitness News that Sovendle had been over the target weight didn’t bother him much as he already knew the outcome of the fight.

“Nothing really, I guess he missed weight by 4kgs, but that didn't even bother me much because I knew the fight would be over in round 1.”

The fight had to be shifted to non-title status due to Sovendle missing weight, but that didn’t stop Jacobs from reinforcing his status as one of the most dangerous athletes on the roster.

Jacobs has been a coach with the Laureus Sport for Good Bom Combat martial arts programme. He also has titles at a number of levels: as the Western Cape amateur kickboxing champion, the South African amateur kickboxing champion, the Cape Fight League amateur kickboxing champion and the South African Kickboxing Association (SAKA) Pro Kickboxing champion.
