R3.6m in cash found in vehicle during raids on drug labs in Mpumalanga

JOHANNESBURG - Mpumalanga police have uncovered R3.6 million in cash hidden in a vehicle seized from an illegal drug lab in the province.
Police Minister Senzo Mchunu revealed the discovery during his visit to Standerton at the weekend, following raids on clandestine laboratories last week.

Mchunu said the raid followed a tip-off about suspicious activity in the area.
He said the investigation had since led police to other drug labs connected to the nine suspects who were arrested.
"And then a search warrant was obtained, or it was sought and it was obtained. And when they pounced on these establishments, because this is a third establishment that we are uncovering, they then found a lot of chemicals and drums, powder and chemicals and sacks, machinery, and equipment. And it was confirmed that all three locations or sites were actually crime scenes."
