Findings of probe into fatal light aircraft crash near Pretoria due in 30 days - SACAA

JOHANNESBURG - The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) said it would release its findings into a fatal plane crash near Pretoria within the next 30 days.
Over the weekend, a light aircraft that took off from Kitty Hawk Aerodrome, a private airfield, crashed about five kilometres from the runway.

SACAA confirmed the plane was substantially damaged, and that the pilot, who was flying alone, did not survive.
Spokesperson Sisa Majola said that investigations into the cause of the crash were still underway.
"The site was secured on Saturday and guarded by the South African Police Services and a private security company overnight. AIID is on site to collate evidence that will form part of a preliminary report that will be published on the SACAA website in 30 days."
