LUSIKISIKI - The six men accused of the Lusikisiki massacre in Eastern Cape will on Monday stand trial at the Mthatha High Court.

The group is linked to the mass shooting of 18 relatives during a family gathering in Ngobozana Village, Lusikisiki, in 2024.

Earlier in 2025, the last suspect, Songezo Vuma, was added to the dock.

During the previous appearance, the mass murder case was certified trial-ready, with all the accused in custody.

However, outstanding investigations put things to a halt.

The State said that all the incomplete investigations were in relation to Vuma.

"It's only two, as mentioned in court. Outstanding matters in relation to him, it is the DNA and the cellphone records," said National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Luxolo Tyali.

Trial is expected to get underway on Monday morning.
