They found that 60% of the teenagers surveyed show signs of high vape dependence.
The study was conducted with 25,000 pupils from across 52 fee-paying high schools in the country.
Samantha Filby, a researcher at UCT’s school of economics, said the implementation of the bill could help curb the number of teenage vape users.
“Around 16.8% of the sampled students reported that they currently vape. We also used the information that the high school learners provided to us about their vaping habits to construct a novel vape dependence school that will help us identify the proportion of vape users who are highly vape dependent.”
