JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) says it has no intention of leaving the provincial coalition government.
This is despite the current issues in the Government of National Unity (GNU) between the Democratic Alliance (DA) and the African National Congress (ANC).
On Friday, the DA in KZN held a media briefing where it committed itself to the coalition.
In KZN, the DA has two MECs, a deputy speaker and two chairpersons for the legislature committees.

This is largely due to the party’s coalition with the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), ANC, and National Freedom Party (NFP).
The DA’s KZN leader, Francois Rodgers, says the four parties have been working very well together because of shared values.
“And those are quite simply building a capable and ethical state, ensuring that we create a sustainable economy, which ultimately creates jobs and deals with poverty and inequality. That has to be the common denominator in any government of unity.”
Rodgers has warned that the friction between the DA and ANC in the GNU may affect the politics of KZN.
