JOHANNESBURG - The prosecutors who botched the Timothy Omotoso rape case will be called before a commission of inquiry by Chapter 9 institutions.
The CRL, gender equality and human rights commissions have announced an inquiry into the acquittal of the Nigerian televangelist.
It’s been a week since Omotoso and two others were acquitted of 32 counts including rape, human trafficking, and racketeering.
South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) chair, Chris Nissen, said they would be inviting all those involved in Omotoso’s trial.
"As we deem fit, as we see where there are cases for them to be invited, both individually or as an institution, we will do that in the inquiry because the inquiry is to ascertain facts, what went wrong, and how we can correct it."
