Police arrest suspects linked to kidnapping of a Chinese businessman

CAPE TOWN - Suspects linked to the kidnapping of a Chinese businessman have been arrested.  

The City of Cape Town’s JP Smith says three suspects were arrested in Delft earlier on Friday.

They face multiple charges related to kidnapping, robbery and other crimes and are scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Smith says the breakthrough was made possible with the help of the South African Police Service.

“We’ve also recruited specialised resources, including those experienced in hostage negotiations, serious and violent crimes, as well as partnering with international police agencies such as the United States and the FBI, giving us access to enhanced training and the latest methodologies.”
