JOHANNESBURG - Advocate Dali Mpofu said the person who drafted the allegations against him relating to senior judges did not think about the effect it would have on the judiciary.

Mpofu is set to face a disciplinary inquiry for misconduct before the Legal Practice Council (LPC).

He faces seven charges, two relating to Chief Justice Mandisa Maya and Gauteng Judge President Dunstan Mlambo.

Mpofu is being charged for character assassination of Mlambo for when he brought up rumours that he was guilty of the sexual harassment of aspirant female judges during his interview before the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

But it’s the complaint regarding Maya that Mpofu considers truly worrying.

According to the charge, the senior counsel’s comments towards the then Supreme Court president during her JSC interview, laden with inappropriate sexual innuendos, were offensive, unprofessional, and lacked decorum.

This was when Mpofu uttered the words "and we spent our nights together".

"The one about the Chief Justice is even sicker than the one to do with the Judge President. What do they expect the Chief Justice to do, to come and testify in some kangaroo court?"

Mpofu said he was not worried about these charges, as they were simply brought to tarnish his reputation.
