Final report into Wynberg court shooting to be sent to justice minister, chief justice

CAPE TOWN - On Tuesday morning, a taxi driver from Vrygrond was murdered in the corridors of the Wynberg court building.
The incident left the law enforcement and justice fraternity in shock, with the Office of the Chief Justice saying it viewed the incident in a serious light.
Director-General for the Justice Department, Advocate Doc Mashabane, conducted a site visit at the Wynberg Magistrates Court on Thursday.
He was accompanied by the court’s chief magistrate, prosecutors, court administrators and police officials.
Among other measures, Mashabane ordered that security be stepped up – this includes the installation of a security scanner, the tightening of access control to prosecutors' and magistrates' offices and stricter vetting of court officials.
Department spokesperson Kgalalelo Masibi said that the final report into the incident will be sent to the justice minister and the chief justice.
"The South African Police Service confirmed that an investigation was underway to bring the perpetrators to book."
Western Cape Judge President Justice Nolwazi Mabindla-Boqwana has conveyed her condolences to the family of the deceased.
She also expressed her regret and support to judicial officers and the public who witnessed the incident.
