JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KwaZulu-Natal is “concerned” about the potential implications a Government of National Unity (GNU) fallout will have on the provincial government.
The DA is part of the coalition government in KZN, which includes the African National Congress (ANC), Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and National Freedom Party (NFP).
On Friday, the DA’s KZN leadership held a media briefing to update on governance and political matters in the province.

The DA and the ANC are considering their future in the GNU as they are on opposite sides of the budget vote.
Some DA leaders have suggested that whatever happens in the GNU will also affect the coalition government in KwaZulu-Natal.
The DA's KZN leader and Finance MEC, Francois Rodgers, said, “What's currently unfolding at a national level is of concern to us because in politics every action has a reaction, and we are calling on our counterparts at a national level to put their political differences aside and look at what the commonalities are in operating with a GNU.”
National leaders from the DA and ANC are due to meet since the budget vote.
