JOHANNESBURG – Archery South Africa obtained 3 quota placements for the Chengdu 2025 World Games following the allocation of the final compound spots through recent continental tournaments in Asia, Oceania and Africa, and via the world ranking list.


The qualification period began in May 2024 and spanned nearly a year.


The Chengdu 2025 World Games will take place from 7-17 August in China.


 The quota place is assigned to the National Federation, which decides who represents the nation at the event.

South Africa earned two spots in the Compound Men and one in the Compound Women.


The athletes who won the spots are Ignus de Wet, Hendre Verhoef and Jeanine Van kradenburg.


There are 27 nations qualified for the compound competitions at the 2025 World Games.


The African qualifier wrapped things up from 4-6 April in Johannesburg with Namibia taking the second women’s spot.


Archery at the World Games in Chengdu will feature two disciplines: target (compound) and field (recurve and barebow), with just 100 archers set to compete – 52 in target and 48 in field. Seven gold medals will be awarded, including six individual titles and one compound mixed team title.
