CAPE TOWN - The attorney of a man killed at the Wynberg Regional Court said her client was not a witness in a gang trial.
An armed man entered the courthouse in Cape Town on Tuesday and opened fire in the corridors.
The defence counsel said her client was consulting the instructing attorney minutes before the attack.
Two men entered the fourth floor when one fired a semi-automatic weapon outside court D.
Their target was a murder-accused taxi operator from Vrygrond.
The victim, believed to be in his 40s, was facing murder and attempted murder charges.
The assailants fled the building undetected by police.
They are still at large.
