DURBAN - Police said four suspects killed during a shootout with officers in KwaZulu-Natal were wanted for murder.
The face-off happened on Tuesday night near Umlazi as police were preparing to arrest the group.
Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda said the suspects were hiding in the south of Durban.
"Police had gathered intelligence about the whereabouts of the wanted suspects, and when police pounced on them at a mall in Umlazi, the suspects sped off and with police catching up on them, the suspects fired shots towards the police and to protect themselves and other road users, police returned fire."
