JOHANNESBURG  - Residents of Mofolo where three people died in what is believed to be a taxi-linked attack are left shocked and traumatised.

Three Witwatersrand African Taxi Association (WATA) squad members were gunned down while driving in the area on Monday morning.

They are the latest victims in the ceaseless taxi wars in the area.

The shooting of a patrolling Toyota Corolla happened on the busy Zulu Street - a main road where commuters often catch their taxis and a steep hill where runners and walkers choose to exercise.

This woman who did not want to be named said she had just got back from a wall,

“That's what scared me the most that it almost happened while I was outside- I’m asking myself what could have happened. We live in fear now because this is a main road.”

She says she now fears when she thinks of taking a taxi to the mall.

As investigators and forensic pathologists comb the scene, neighbours and members of the public from neighbouring Dube have stood to watch.
