CAPE TOWN - The Table Mountain National Park says safety and security will be tightened at the park with the latest addition of 24 rangers.
The recent graduates join the Sea, Aerial, and Mountain team, a specialised force responsible for managing visitor safety and the protection of marine and land ecosystems.
Table Mountain National Park said that since its inception in 2021, the unit had arrested more than 100 people.
SANParks spokesperson JP Louw said the units would also be deployed to hotspot areas like Lion's Head.
"We indicated quite recently that we were doing a joint operation with the South African Police Service as well as the Camps Bay CID around the Lion's Head, Signal Hill, and the Glen area. There were some incidents that gave us a bit of a concern and our teams are on the ground doing operations to make sure we can deal with the situation."
