JOHANNESBURG - Angry protesters in Johannesburg CBD who joined the nationwide shutdown waited to hand over their memorandum of demands on Tuesday afternoon.
Supporters gathered outside the Gauteng Education Department office, saying they were standing in solidarity with a seven-year-old girl who was raped at an Eastern Cape school in 2024.

Justice for SA, a non-profit organisation, called on officials to address them and answer their questions about what happened to the young girl.
The NPO’s Angela Molepo said they want their list of demands to be met by the department.
“We are also demanding that the department implement a safe learning environment. In the sense that we need training. Our teachers need training. We need them to understand what their job is. We also need the national registry to be implemented.”
