CAPE TOWN - The Table Mountain National Park has urged visitors to continue being vigilant when visiting the park, despite the addition of more rangers.

Twenty-four graduates are set to join the Sea, Aerial, and Mountain team, a specialised force responsible for managing visitor safety and the protection of marine and land ecosystems.

SANParks spokesperson JP Louw said they had recently received reports of crime incidents around Lion's Head and Signal Hill areas, which were concerning.

Louw shared some tips for hikers visiting the mountain park.

"Take note of the notices that are put up all over the park; try to be in groups of four or more. If you do go for a walk and decide to join a trail, make sure that somebody knows when you are leaving and when you will be back. Preferably do this in daytime and avoid the park during the evenings."
