JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) has threatened to "reconfigure" the Government of National Unity (GNU) if the Democratic Alliance (DA) continues to engage in so-called "political point-scoring".
The two largest parties in the GNU have once again reached an impasse, this time over the passing of the national budget.

The ANC held a media briefing in Johannesburg on Tuesday, to update on its latest effort to pass the budget proposals.
The DA has accused the ANC of acting like it is governing alone by pushing through budget proposals without consulting its GNU partners.
However, the ANC said it is well aware it is now operating in a power-sharing system of governance.
ANC secretary general Fikile Mbalula said this is the GNU’s first budget, so policy disagreements were always expected.
“If you engage with this process on the basis of political point-scoring, it may lead to situations whereas in which GNU itself, given the outcome, has to be reconfigured.”
Having said that, Mbalula added the ANC still remains committed to the current configuration of the GNU.
