2 former SSA employees arrested on fraud and money laundering charges

JOHANNESBURG - Two former senior officials from the State Security Agency have been arrested on fraud and money laundering charges amounting to over R5 million.
Ntshavheni Makhathana and Matome Ralebipi are accused of misappropriating state funds allocated to the then National Intelligence Agency for personal gain.
It's alleged that a company by the name of Ralebipi Properties served as a money laundering platform.
The pair made their first court appearance before the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Monday.
ID spokesperson, Henry Mamothame said: "The NPA's Investigating Directorate against corruption, working closely with the State Security Agency arrested Ntshavheni Makhathana and Matome Ralebipi, who are former employees of the National Intelligence Agency on charges of theft and money laundering amounting to approximately 5.8 million with the offence commissioned between 2007 and 2010".
