WC education MEC David Maynier urges parents of Grade 7 learners to apply for Grade 8 placement before deadline
The MEC is appealing to parents to apply before the ‘on-time admissions’ window closes on April 15th.

CAPE TOWN - Western Cape Education (WCED) MEC David Maynier calls on parents of more than 33,000 Grade 7 learners who still need to apply for Grade 8 next year to do so as soon as possible.
So far, 116,000 learners have applied for Grades R, 1 and 8 for 2026.
The MEC appeals to parents to apply before the ‘on-time admissions’ window closes on April 15th.

"We are halfway through the on-time admissions window for 2026. We have asked Primary Schools to contact the parents, to remind these parents to apply and to add a note about the applications to their end of term communications to parents last week."
