This is part of US President Donald Trump’s plan to offer members of the minority group asylum in his country.

Trump’s programme dubbed “mission South Africa,” is largely based on a disinformation campaign – claiming Afrikaans farmers were under attack in the country.

Ad-hoc refugee centres have been set up with US government officials directed to focus on only screening white Afrikaner farmers.

Although there’s been reports of more than 70,000 applications, officials have combed through 8200 requests to relocate.

Only 100 have been identified thus far.

The US has also provided security escorts to protect officials meeting with potential refugees.

Officials are expected to give an update on proposed long-term solutions to ensure the successful implementation of Donald Trump’s resettlement programme next month
