CAPE TOWN  - Donors from across Cape Town are being invited to participate in the WeLoveU Foundation's latest blood drive.

The non-profit is hosting this initiative at N1 City Mall on Sunday, running from 9 am until noon.

Spokesperson Jill Jacobs says donating blood can save people's lives:  "The blood drive we carry out is held out on an international scale to help and encourage people all over the world to participate in blood donation. We hope to donate at least 100 units of healthy blood because by donating 1 unit of blood, 3 lives can be saved.”

If you can't make it today, the organisation says there are many blood centers available throughout the Western Cape for donations.

"For those who are first-time donors' certain requirements to note is that you need to be between the ages of 16 and 75 years old you need to weigh at least 50kg lead a healthy lifestyle and also eat and drink plenty of liquids at least three hours before donating blood.”
