JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) said it is confident that Minister of Finance Enoch Godongwana’s proposed budget will pass in Parliament.
The party has been engaged in talks with other political parties, trying to convince them to vote in favour of the budget.
Over the last three days, the ANC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has been meeting in Boksburg, with the budget being a central topic of discussion.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the NEC meeting on Sunday, ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri said everything is on track for a successful vote.
“I think that matter was ventilated thoroughly yesterday, but we are absolutely confident that the budget will be passed on Wednesday.”
