CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Education Department is once again, appealing to residents to keep a close eye on schools in their communities.
Holiday periods usually see an increase in incidents of break-ins, theft and vandalism at schools.
The first school term of the 2025 academic year wrapped up on Friday.
Education MEC David Maynier said: "While we have subsidized security at 443 schools during the holiday period, we cannot overstate the positive impact that an involved community can have on the safety of our school properties. Please, report any suspicious activity in and around our schools to SAPS immediately."
Term two begins on the 8th of April.
