DURBAN - The three men killed during a shootout with the police in Reservoir Hills in Durban on Friday have been identified as cash-in-transit robbers.
The suspects were allegedly part of a group of suspects on their way to rob a house in the area on Friday when the shooting occurred.
Police said the group fired shots towards officers, which led to a gun battle.
“This is a multi-disciplinary operation, and the Hawks are part of these operations, and investigators have told us that these three individuals were sought for cash-in-transit robberies going back as far as 2021. It seems they are specialising in cash-in-transit [heists],” said police spokesperson Jay Naicker.
