JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) has stressed the importance of maintaining strong trade relations with the United States, despite ongoing diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
Pretoria’s turbulent relationship with Washington will be a key focus during the ANC’s NEC meeting at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg.
In the next four days, the ANC will thoroughly discuss, among other issues, how to navigate the diplomatic challenges with the United States.
Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula told journalists that although the ANC was unhappy with the misinformation being spread to the US government, the two nations must find a way to resolve their differences.
"We don’t believe that those trade relations must fall apart based on lies. It started with the Biden administration and they’re now on steroids with the Trump administration on targeting South Africa. That is what we are going to be discussing here. What have we done?"
