DURBAN - The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party said it is yet to form leadership structures in the Cape provinces to reinforce its national high command.

The collective is the party's highest decision-making body, and it held its first meeting for 2025 in Durban on Wednesday.

Among the key issues discussed were party plans ahead of the 2026 local government polls.

Party secretary general Floyd Shivambu said, “We’ve now defined how we are going to constitute leadership structures in the Western, Northern, and Eastern Capes, which are the provinces that don’t have leadership structures but have got members, but otherwise we are on the correct path in terms of how we are dealing with these issues.”

He said the party will share the outcomes of the meeting next week.
